Q & A
What have you learned playing sports that you use in work/school/life?
Ice skating has given me a sense of achievement. I struggle with learning things and a lot of the time I feel like I’m not good enough at things, like maths and stuff. But with ice skating I can be the best at something. It has taught me resilience. Getting back up every time I fall, trying again and again to learn new skills. It has taught me to be strong when things don’t go my way and that trying new things can be really fun as well as a bit scary. It has helped me build friendships with lots of different people, like my coaches and my skating partner, and other athletes. It is important to find things in common with people rather than seeing the differences. It has taught me to step outside of my comfort zone. I really like reading rather than talking, but when I go to competitions and skate camps I have to meet lots of people.
