Q & A
What is one barrier you have overcome? How did you do it and what did you learn?
As a baby, medical experts told my parents that I may never walk or talk. At a very young age, I began doing physical, speech and occupational therapies on a multiple times per week basis. Through much hard work and the help of others, I have made great progress overcoming my disabilities. I never had the opportunity to participate in athletics until my freshman year in high school when I joined Special Olympics. I first competed in snowshoe races in January 2012. As result of a lot of practicing and much hard work, I have won many Region and State competition medals. This success has given me the courage to also play, train and compete in track, basketball, bocce, bowling and floor hockey. I have won Region and State medals in all of those sports as well.
