Q & A

What have you learned playing sports that you use in work/school/life?

Just like when you lose your balance during skating practice and fall down, but get up immediately and continue practicing, you must keep trying and not give up even when you make mistakes. As a child, I was too afraid of failure to take action on my own. However, through speed skating practice, I learned the importance of trying things I had never tried before and never giving up and trying again and again even if things don’t go well. At work, she is using this experience to work on “communicating from oneself,” something she had been particularly weak at in the past. I try to make my work go smoothly by asking for help from those around me when I am tackling a task that is difficult to do alone, or by telling people I need to take a break when I am not feeling well. At first, she was not able to do it, but through repeated experience, she gradually became able to do it.
