Q & A
What is one barrier you have overcome? How did you do it and what did you learn?
One obstacle I faced in my journey as a Special Olympics athlete was dealing with my fears and anxieties about competing. At first, I felt nervous and worried about what people would think of me. I also noticed that floorball, the sport I love, isn’t very popular in my community, which made me feel a bit isolated. To overcome this, I learned to focus on enjoying the process of training and competing instead of just worrying about winning. Also, most of my teammates live in a different city, making it challenging for us to practice together, this made it hard to build strong connections and trust within the team. This journey has taught me to believe in myself and to always keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges I face, including being part of a sport that may not get a lot of attention and having teammates far away
