er: By entering the world of Special Olympics sport, Caterina has immersed herself in a reality where all differences, all problems, all discomforts that disability entails, disappear. The way of welcoming, collaborating and helping make the sports environment a world where not even the smallest step of difference is perceived. There is friendship, confrontation and sportsmanship. Caterina immediately entered into the life of sport, with curiosity and with gratification. Such joyful and serene experiences, combined with the breaking down of barriers inside and especially outside of sports competitions, gave her the confidence to approach others much more easily, and the desire to confront herself. She learnt to be more self-confident, to participate more actively in social life, coming out of her shell.
